After helping to assess and select a new CEO and COO for a private mental healthcare organisation we were asked to run a two-day Team Development programme for the new Board. Our goal was to help the Board members to better understand each other and enable them to work to one another’s strengths. This was not a ‘gung-ho’ team building exercise but rather a business related programme culminating in the Board producing a strategy to move the business forward.
We concluded the event by facilitating a ‘value-added’ action planning session, with clear and attributable actions agreed to be put in place.
6 months after the Board Development programme, we facilitated a review day to ensure that they were on-track with the action plan they produced. Our in-depth knowledge of both the people and the business has allowed us to be very pro-active in this area, providing a balance of both challenge and support.
The programme had a substantial impact on how the organisation is performing today, as there is a clear understanding among all members of the Board and an ability to effectively communicate when any issues arise.
